About the Owner

Hunter Brown

  • My name is Hunter Brown. I was born and raised on an old farm in Randolph, AL and the family veneer mill in Maplesville. My first word was tractor. I grew up around an assortment of forestry characters, logging, sawmilling, and baseball. I worked on the ‘green chain’ in the family veneer mill starting when I could hold a shovel and broom.

On the advice of an early mentor I studied business and economics before pursuing forestry later. After my first years in business school it was clear that economics, as they apply to the family forest, was one aspect that many families struggle with in landownership. I began to see this as a purpose for my life.

I could see the individual my family had needed to advise them on certain things was not available in our area. After my formal education I spent another 2 years working as a technician, learning proper field work and timber evaluation techniques. After becoming registered I moved back to the farm to start my own practice.

For the last 8 years I have been working for a small group of landowning clients and managers. Working with older managers has been like a paid-real-world-PHd. They have taught me everything they have learned through their respective experiences. Working for a small group of landowners has given me opportunity to lay groundwork with service providers that allow me to sell results that I know we can achieve.

For years I wasn’t really ready to make this website. I wasn’t yet the consultant and project manager that I idealized. In retrospect, I have inspected or cruised half a million acres. I have burned 30,000 acres. I have managed the sale and logging of some 1M tons of wood. Having those experiences gives me the confidence to use my skillset to help a greater number of people.
